Cooking Instructions
Cook Farmland Extra Tender® Fresh Pork to an internal end temperature of 155°F. when measured in the thickest part of the meat NOT touching bone. Let stand 15 minutes before slicing. Pork may be slightly pink in the center.
TO ROAST:
1. Heat oven to 350°F. Remove packaging from roast, including foil bone cover. Season as desired; place fat-side up on rack in roasting pan. (Note: It is ok if end of bone hangs over edge of pan.)
2. Roast pork, uncovered, 2 to 2 1/2 hours until internal temperature reaches 155°F., (about 23 minutes per pound).
3. Remove from oven, cover loosely with foil and let stand 30 minutes until internal temperature reaches 160°F.
4. Refrigerate or freeze leftovers within 2 hours of serving.
NOTE: Steamship Picnic Roast may also be cooked in an oven bag. Follow manufacturer's instructions regarding oven temperature and cooking time.
TO CARVE:
1. Hold Picnic Roast by bone, with bone pointing upwards.
2. Slice meat vertically from top down towards platter, turning to new side as needed.
