Broccoli and Ham Chowder

Ingredients

  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped fresh broccoli
  • 2 stalks celery chopped
  • 2 tablespoons margarine
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 pound Farmland® Premium Boneless Classic Cure Half Ham chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 cup (4 oz.) cubed pasteurized processed cheese spread

Preparation

  1. Combine broccoli, onion, celery, margarine and 1/2 cup milk in large pot. Heat, covered, 10 minutes or until vegetables are tender.
  2. Blend flour into 1 cup milk then add with remaining 1 1/2 cups milk, parsley, basil and chili powder to vegetables. Cook, stirring occasionally, until chowder boils and thickens.
  3. Add ham and cheese. Heat until cheese is melted.
