Broccoli and Ham Chowder

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups chopped fresh broccoli
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons margarine
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 cup shredded American cheese
  • 1/2 pound Farmland® Boneless Smoked Ham - Classic Cure, chopped

Preparation

  1. Combine broccoli, celery, onion, margarine and 1/2 cup milk in large pot. Heat, covered, 10 minutes or until vegetables are steamed.
  2. Blend flour into 1 cup milk then add with remaining milk and seasonings to vegetables. Cook, stirring occasionally, until chowder boils and thickens.
  3. Add cheese and ham. Heat until cheese is melted.

Serves 4
