Three Bean and Bratwurst Dinner

Ingredients

  • 1 (1.25-lb.) pkg. Farmland® Special Select - Bratwurst Dinner Sausage
  • 1 (15-oz.) can navy beans, drained
  • 1 (15-oz.) can garbanzo beans, drained
  • 1 (15-oz.) can red beans, drained
  • 1 (14.5-oz.) can no-salt-added, whole, peeled tomato
  • 1 (8-oz.) can no-salt-added tomato sauce
  • 1 medium onion, coarsely chopped
  • 1/4 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper

Preparation

  1. Slice bratwurst into 1/2-inch pieces; place in large saucepan. Cook over medium heat until sausage is fully cooked and no longer pink inside, stirring occasionally; drain.
  2. Rinse and drain beans. Stir beans, whole tomatoes, tomato sauce, onion, brown sugar, dry mustard, black pepper and crushed red pepper into bratwurst.
  3. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, covered for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove cover; continue to simmer an additional 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
